The Conservation Regulator is seeking information from the public after two eastern grey kangaroos were allegedly shot with arrows on private property at Ryans Road, Healesville.
A young female kangaroo was found deceased, while a large male survived, with his condition being monitored.
The Conservation Regulator is urging anyone with information to report it confidentially to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au
In Victoria all wildlife is protected under the Wildlife Act 1975 and it is illegal to hunt, take, destroy, injure or interfere with wildlife and severe penalties apply.
The maximum penalty for hunting, taking or destroying wildlife ranges from $8,261 to $41,305 and/or six to 24 months’ imprisonment.
