Why focus on young people?

Crime Stoppers Victoria is a community organisation dedicated to supporting all Victorians. We recognise that young people can be particularly vulnerable when exposed to criminal or suspicious activity and may be less likely to seek help or report concerns that could protect both themselves and their communities.

How do we support young people?

Building on Crime Stoppers Victoria’s trusted crime prevention initiatives, we will engage with young people to raise awareness of the consequences of criminal behaviour, encourage positive participation, and provide opportunities for them to contribute to a safer community.

Useful Resources

Secondary in-school program (Years 7–8)

The Crime Stoppers Victoria Community Engagement Team will deliver a presentation to students, focusing on three topics:

  • Introduction to Crime Stoppers Victoria and general awareness of crime
  • The consequences of carrying a knife
  • How to share crime information with Crime Stoppers.

The presentation will be interactive, with a whole group presentation combined with smaller focus groups, allowing young people to express their concerns and insights about staying safe in their community.
