The Conservation Regulator is currently investigating a wildlife offence after a White Ibis was found shot with an arrow at Cobden Lake Reserve.
On Monday, 20 December 2021, a wildlife rescuer was called and attempted to catch the bird however, it was not able to be captured for treatment and subsequently died.
The Conservation Regulator is appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information.
Ibis are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975, and there are significant penalties for illegally hunting, taking, or destroying protected wildlife, including a maximum penalty of $8,261 and up to six months imprisonment.
