Crime Stoppers Victoria is starting 2022 on an exciting note, teaming up with BankVic again to raise awareness about scams and online safety. Keeping people and their money safe while using the internet has never been more important, with Australians losing more than $222 million to scams in 2021 alone.
To help protect everyday people from cyber-criminals, Crime Stoppers and BankVic will unveil the second instalment of their successful online safety series.
Each month, helpful online guides and practical tips will be released. Topics that will be covered include:
- Phishing scams and romance scams — which cost Aussies more than $50million last year.
- Password hygiene, where we’ll share how frequently you should change passwords and some great ideas for choosing a safe password.
- How to bank online safely— did you know you should avoid using public Wi-Fi networks when banking online?
You’ll be able to find these free resources here and be sure to keep an eye out for practical online safety tips on Crime Stoppers Victoria’s social media.
