The Conservation Regulator is seeking information from the public after five kangaroos and three joeys appeared to have been hit deliberately by a vehicle near Sunbury Road, Melbourne Airport on Sunday 20 August 2023.

Wildlife Victoria volunteers reported the incident to the Conservation Regulator after they attended an open grassland area along Sunbury Road and located the dead bodies of four adults and two joey eastern grey kangaroos (EKGs). An additional adult and joey EKG were located alive but were both euthanised due to their injuries.

The deaths are being treated as suspicious due to the presence of vehicle tracks leading to each of the kangaroo bodies.
