The Program

Opportunities for young people

The program provides opportunities for young people aged between 12 – 24 to participate in skateboarding, while connecting them with youth employment service providers via the transition to work program. It allows youth employment experts to talk directly to young people and provide advice and resources regarding finding employment or training opportunities.

The program also provides Crime Stoppers staff the opportunity to share important community safety and crime reporting information with participants.

Engagement from the public has been very positive. Since it began, the program has delivered over 120 skateboarding workshops and has received a fantastic response from young people, with up to 30 participants attending per workshop. The program has also expanded to include over 30 Kick Learn Connect football workshops.

The Skate Learn Connect and Kick Learn Connect programs received grant funding from the Australian Government through the Safer Communities Fund Round 6 Early Intervention grants stream.
