On Monday the 29th of September, a black swan was seriously attacked at Coburg Lake by a dog.
After a veterinary assessment, the swan was euthanised due to the extent of its injuries.
It is an offence to allow dogs to chase, attack or injure wildlife. Dogs must be kept on a leash around Coburg Lake. Taking, harming or destroying protected wildlife carries serious penalties, including significant fines and the possibility of up to six months imprisonment.
