Crime Stoppers Victoria is thanking the community for supporting our 2016 Dob in a Dealer campaign.
Dob in a Dealer calls on the local community to confidentially report any information about dealing, trafficking or manufacturing of methamphetamines and other illicit drugs.
A total of 20 local campaigns have been rolled out between April and August 2016 – six in Melbourne’s suburbs and a further 14 in regional Victoria.
Drug reports to Crime Stoppers Victoria more than doubled in the locations targeted by this year’s campaign.
On average drug-related Information Reports to Crime Stoppers Victoria spiked 170 per cent in locations where the campaign was held. Reports relating specifically to amphetamines also spiked by an average 208 per cent.
This confidential intelligence provided by the community has been passed to Victoria Police for investigation.
As a result a number of drug warrants have already been executed across the state and we’re now releasing details of a further five people wanted by Victoria Police on drug warrants.
Crime Stoppers Victoria CEO Sam Hunter thanked the community for its support of the Dob in a Dealer campaign and said information received had helped break the cycle of drug crime.
